The Princeton Review ranked the University of Virginia the No. 1 public school for financial aid in the country in its 2021 “Best Value Colleges” rankings. The publication also scored the university highly in four other ranking categories, including “best public school for career placement.” To determine the rankings, it assessed school-reported data on financial aid, the perspectives of students who received award packages, and data from PayScale.com, which features the views of alumni.
For the 2021-2022 academic year, the University of Virginia froze base undergraduate tuition fees, and it currently meets 100 percent of the demonstrated financial needs of its undergraduates. Additionally, it stands out as one of only two public schools in the country to admit students regardless of their ability to afford tuition.
