In 2016, CEO of American Homecrafters, Inc. Charles Lessin opened Pop’s Bar and Grill in Richmond, Virginia, to revitalize Richmond’s southside neighborhood and bring together the local community. In 2020, Charles Lessin opened a second location in Lawrenceville, which seeks to uphold similar values.
The original Pop’s Bar and Grill is a 300-seat sports bar and restaurant that offers amenities, such as a patio, bar, and 63 flat-screen TVs, all packaged in a sports-themed aesthetic. It serves dishes, such as burgers, fried catfish, and wings. The Lawrenceville branch located at 123 West Hicks Street has a similar theme and menu. Barring COVID-19 restrictions, the restaurants host social events, such as open microphone nights, live music, and trivia. In addition, the restaurants are meant to act as safe and reliable places for members of the local neighborhood to come together and socialize, which is important for fostering a sense of camaraderie and fellowship.
